TYPHOON WARNING PHILIPPINES
The typical "Typhoon Season" in the Philippines is from June to November, with the strongest and most destructve usually occuring later in the season. Tropical storms however, can occur during any month of the year so we recommend the occasional visit to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) website before planning an extended cruising route in or around the Philippines.
The Philippines is of course no stranger to tropical storms - it has 1000 miles of coastline facing the West Pacific, so it gets its fair share. Accordingly, there are marinas and anchorages that are either, outside of the typhoon-belt or, appropriately strengthened or oriented if located within the typhoon-belt.
The "Typhoon-Belt" in the northern West Pacific is generally considered to be anywhere North of Latitude 7.5°.
